First day of Senior Kindergardarten and another day at Kindergarten

It was Logan's first day of Kindergarten, so we continued the tradition of taking his picture out front and asking him some questions...
Kali didn't want to be left out so she posed for a picture too...

First day of Junior Kindergarten

Logan has started Junior Kindergarten! He was super excited; no fear, no tears, no worries. He's loving being in the Senior preschool classroom on days he's not in Kindergarten too!

Here is a similar photo on his first day of preschool...I just added the text in the Paint program, pretty simple!

And she's off!

With a lot of clapping, cheering and much excitement, Kali took her first steps using her walker before bath one night.

This is how Logan learned to walk -he started using the walker at 11 months. Not to be outdone by her brother, Kali has mastered this at 10 months. Same walker, same master bedroom, same excitement.

Graduating from Daycare

Kalia and I headed over to Logan's daycare early so his teacher could set up for the big graduation ceremony. The kids seemed really interested in the baby and Logan loved showing off his sister.I drew out a city to keep the boys interested --a gas station, a car wash, the highway...A store, a house and a building site which they brought sticks to

The graduation ceremony starts...and Logan realizes he's going to get a gift

Logan's poses are the funnest...

Baby Art Time

At what age can you do art with your kids?
What projects are age appropriate and safe?

I wondered this myself. Besides doing hand and foot prints, I started doing art activities with Logan at 10 months. With Kalia I've started at 6 months -she can sit at a highchair or bumbo, is aware and curious about the world around her and is mastering her hand coordination.
Worried that she would eat paint, even if it says non-toxic, I decided to try making my own. There are a ton of recipes out there but I stuck with the simplest one:
Edible Paint
1 cup flour
1 cup water
Squirts of food colouring
I mixed the water into the flour and poured them into some baby food jars that I saved. A few drops of food colouring into each one and done!
I then poured the paint onto finger painting paper (back side is glossy so it can take more moisture) and let Kalia have a go at her first art project!

I was worried that she would eat it but she didn't even put her hands in her mouth. Maybe from watching her brother do all his art projects with paint she sort of knew what was happening?

While it was really about the process, rather than the product but she did make four pretty nice pictures....

This went really well. Guess we'll be doing more baby art projects!
